All of these works are studies of the exhibition space, but in each case the media is selected for its non-neutral characteristics; for the way it can enrich the work and add layers of meaning. The colour schemes and drawing forms used in these works are chosen to evoke the early twentieth-century avant-gardes. In the case of the Red Wall series, the colour selection is made explicit in the content of the work: a dialogue on the history and uses of architectural polychromy. While the optical-spatial expression of the Red Wall generates corporeal, retinal and intellectual impressions on the viewer, the Axonometric Studies function in a more schematic manner. They are in fact three-dimensional plans of the spaces in which they are installed.
